Hair Styles Are Not One Size Fits All

image

There is nothing worse than creating a a hairstyle for a Bride who had her mind set on what she wanted, only to realize that is not the most flattering style for HER.

Not everyone’s facial features are best showed off with all their hair up and back. Not everyone’s hair has the dimension and color to expose the beautiful curls and twists in that gorgeous updo.

The images above are two hairstyles that are similar. They look very different however, because of the different color dimensions in the hair.

When choosing your Wedding Style, pick a couple different ideas you love and allow your Wedding Stylist some room to make your style unique and customized to you. Designing hair is an art. It is nearly impossible to create an exact duplicate of a photo. Different hair texture, hair health (frizzy, damaged, split ends, over processed,  overgrown hair color), hair length and hair color all play a big part in the final outcome.

This applies to your Bridesmaid’s Final look as well. Which I will be blogging about soon.

Benefits Of The “Deep Conditioning” Service

MoroccanOil

Split Ends Salon of Jacksonville Beach uses only the BEST Quality Products on our clients. Moroccan Oil is top of line, and we proudly use and retail to our clients.

How many times have you thought about deep conditioning your hair? Chances are you’ve been offered the chance to undergo a deep conditioning treatment on multiple occasions and passed it up, until now. There are many benefits of deep conditioning treatments, all of which may cause you to call up your salon and make an appointment to discuss deep conditioning.

Benefit number one: deep conditioning penetrates the hair shaft which restores the natural shine of your hair. Over time your hair gets build up from the weather, products you use, etc. Using a deep conditioner smoothes the shaft of your hair and allows you to gain back your natural shine!

Benefit number two: deep conditioning moisturizes the scalp. A dry scalp, itching, scratching, and flakes…all things you don’t want! Using a deep conditioner keeps you from having to deal with all of those things.

Benefit number three: a deep conditioning treatment can restore weakened and damaged hair and give it back strength, which can prevent breakage and split ends. Who wants split ends? No one!

Benefit numbrer fou: a deep conditioning treatment may be a major benefit to colored and chemically treated hair. If you often color your hair, or chemically treat it, it can become dull and lifeless. The treatment gives the color in your hair new life and can make it last longer. It can repair damage and leave your hair looking better than ever!

Doing a deep conditioning treatment once a month will keep your hair healthy and looking beautiful 🙂

Tips To Keep Your Hair Color From Fading

WomanBlowDryingHair_article_new

Many of my clients enjoy coloring their hair, whether it is blonde, brunette, red, or a fun color! However, we know sometimes it can be tough to keep that color shining bright. So today I have a couple of tips to help you keep your color from fading so quickly.

1. Keep your hair as healthy as possible. Coloring causes damage, so be kind to your hair in other ways!

2. Skip the blow dryer when possible, heat causes damage too.

3. Wash less. Every time you wash your hair a little bit of color gets stripped away. Try to keep washing your hair to a minimum of 2-3 times per week. Use Sulfate-free Shampoo & Conditioner.

4. Protect your hair while you’re chilling on the beach, getting your tan on in a tanning bed or chilling by the pool is a must-do in case you want to avoid fading hair color! Use a good Deep Conditioner to protect your strands against those dangerous, harmful UV rays when on the beach or tanning salon and prevent them from soaking up a lot of chlorine (when taking a dip in the pool) by saturating your hair with a conditioner and clean water before you jump in. Wearing a hat when exposed to direct sunlight will also protect the hair.

The Secret To Getting Longer Hair Faster?

blonde-pretty-hair

Are you trying to grow out your hair?  The trick to growing your hair is: regular trims.

I know what you’re thinking. It sounds a bit counter-intuitive to cut your hair if you’re trying to make it grow longer, but I assure you that it is not!

Regular trims not only aid in the process of growing out your hair, but it also keeps your hair much healthier! Split ends are not only unattractive, but also impede hair growth.

Stressed Out, Damaged Hair Needs Some TLC

images (5)

Moroccanoil is an industry sensation, used by professionals around the world and many women (such as myself) swear by it to transform hair that is dry and damaged, into soft, smooth, shiny and beautiful flowing locks. Oil no longer means slick and greasy, oil means nourishment and good quality care for our stressed out tresses. Not only does the oil weightlessly leave the hair smoother, free from tangles and knots, with minimized frizz, it also improves the actual condition of the hair right down to the core, making it stronger with each use.

How to use: Pour about the size of a quarter of oil into the palm of your hand, rub hands together and then massage the oil through the mid-lengths (bottom of ear downwards) of towel dried hair. Sometimes I’ll go back for a little bit more and add some more onto the very ends if my client had some bleach damage and deserve some extra TLC. This oil doesn’t leave your hands feeling sticky, slimey or greasy and it doesn’t leave a residue in the hair either. I also love the smell, it’s a refreshing smell which is unique from most other hair products, but that makes it quite a signature scent. One more good point: it also helps to speed up the drying time of the hair as oil repels water particles, making them clear off out of the hair in half the time – always a bonus if you’re using heat to dry your hair as it means less heat on the hair, therefore less damage, or if you’re drying it naturally then that means less time with damp hair hanging around!

Here is what Moroccanoil® themselves have to say about their oil treatment:

“This treatment for hair completely transforms and repairs as its formula transports lost proteins for strength; fatty acids, omega-3 oils and vitamins for shine; and antioxidants for protection. It absorbs instantly to fill gaps in hair created by heat, styling and environmental damage”.

Split Ends Salon Of Jacksonville Beach Proudly uses Moroccanoil from Start ( Shampoo) to Finish (Blowdry and Style) on every client, and offer the entire line for retail. You will see and feel the difference after your Salon Service!

What Is Ombre’?

omrecollage

“Ombre” hair has been a very “in” style for the past few seasons. In very basic terms, it’s a look of which it appears your hair has been sunkissed (depending on the strength of the colour) at the ends of your hair. Or that you’re hair has grown out, leaving you with darker roots and lighter tips. It appears that the popular choice of coloring is brown to blonde/caramel, although i have had clients doing ombre with many different colors.

The natural sunkissed look is the easiest to maintain and wont have you in the salon every five weeks for color.

Wedding Day Hair Accessories Should Not Be Overlooked

starfish

You’ve got your dress, shoes and that special “something blue” all squared away. Now the biggest puzzle of all: What kind of topper to wear—and what the heck to do with your hair?

Just like a good pair of shoes, the right hair piece can change your entire look! With a hair accessory, you can have the most freedom and almost any hair style will be complimented and look unique and truly your own.

I personally love working with Fresh Flowers, Embellished Headbands, Jewel Hair Clips, and Tiaras.

Hair accessories will look gorgeous in photos. Some can be a bit over-the-top, and there is definitely a tasteful way to wear these pieces.
Institute a “no bad prom hair” with your wedding-day hairstylist. Not all hairstylists are comfortable with Wedding Hair. It is an Art, and it can make or break your entire look on your big day. Go with someone who specializes in this area. Do some research, ask around for referrals.

Bring all your Hair Accessories with you to your Trail Run, so your Hairstylist has the opportunity to work with it before your Wedding Day. Not all hair pieces are the same, and are not a “One Size Fits All”. Have a couple of options, if it’s in your budget.

Go to your Trial Run with an open mind. If you are going to someone who specializes in Wedding Day Hair Design, bring some ideas with you, but leave some room for your Stylist to be creative and take your ideas along with her ideas to create your own personal Wedding Day Style.

Beachy Wedding Hair Styles

Tiff Wddding

I just finished with the gorgeous Bride Miss Tiffany, and her Bridal Party! What a sweet group of girls.

It is music to my ears when I hear my Brides/Bridesmaids say “I Trust You” do what you think looks best.

Here Is Why:

1. 9 times out of 10, the picture of the hairstyle she has picked out is not similar at all to her own hair.

2. The photos usually handed to me only show what she wants the back of her hair to look like. Who is looking at the back of your head? Why are you spending so much time dwelling on the back of your head? We need to make sure you look great from the front, where your smiling faces are going to be in your family albums forever and ever.

3. Length. When I am handed a photo of this big beautiful full updo, from a Bride who has shoulder length, thin hair…. That’s when I have to wave my comb in front of her and say “This here is a comb. Not a Magic Wand”

4. Texture. When looking for hairstyles, keep in mind the texture has a lot to do with the outcome as well if you are wanting your hairstylist to duplicate from a photo. If you have frizzy, curly, long hair…. don’t show your stylist a photo of a style that is short, straight and sleek. If your hair is thin and straight as a board… don’t pick out a style that obviously requires a lot of hair to achieve the look.

5. Color. Hair with Highlights, looks completely different in an updo than hair with no highlights. That color dimension makes a huge difference.

My styles above in this photo, each one of the girls sat down in my chair and let me work my magic. No photos to show me. I asked them, up or down and where they part their bangs. From there I created them each their own unique style that worked with their hair and facial features.

So I would say give your Stylist some room to be creative, she may come up with something amazing that you never knew your hair would do 🙂
