Tips To Keep Your Hair Color From Fading

WomanBlowDryingHair_article_new

Many of my clients enjoy coloring their hair, whether it is blonde, brunette, red, or a fun color! However, we know sometimes it can be tough to keep that color shining bright. So today I have a couple of tips to help you keep your color from fading so quickly.

1. Keep your hair as healthy as possible. Coloring causes damage, so be kind to your hair in other ways!

2. Skip the blow dryer when possible, heat causes damage too.

3. Wash less. Every time you wash your hair a little bit of color gets stripped away. Try to keep washing your hair to a minimum of 2-3 times per week. Use Sulfate-free Shampoo & Conditioner.

4. Protect your hair while you’re chilling on the beach, getting your tan on in a tanning bed or chilling by the pool is a must-do in case you want to avoid fading hair color! Use a good Deep Conditioner to protect your strands against those dangerous, harmful UV rays when on the beach or tanning salon and prevent them from soaking up a lot of chlorine (when taking a dip in the pool) by saturating your hair with a conditioner and clean water before you jump in. Wearing a hat when exposed to direct sunlight will also protect the hair.

The Secret To Getting Longer Hair Faster?

blonde-pretty-hair

Are you trying to grow out your hair?  The trick to growing your hair is: regular trims.

I know what you’re thinking. It sounds a bit counter-intuitive to cut your hair if you’re trying to make it grow longer, but I assure you that it is not!

Regular trims not only aid in the process of growing out your hair, but it also keeps your hair much healthier! Split ends are not only unattractive, but also impede hair growth.

Beachy Wedding Hair Styles

Tiff Wddding

I just finished with the gorgeous Bride Miss Tiffany, and her Bridal Party! What a sweet group of girls.

It is music to my ears when I hear my Brides/Bridesmaids say “I Trust You” do what you think looks best.

Here Is Why:

1. 9 times out of 10, the picture of the hairstyle she has picked out is not similar at all to her own hair.

2. The photos usually handed to me only show what she wants the back of her hair to look like. Who is looking at the back of your head? Why are you spending so much time dwelling on the back of your head? We need to make sure you look great from the front, where your smiling faces are going to be in your family albums forever and ever.

3. Length. When I am handed a photo of this big beautiful full updo, from a Bride who has shoulder length, thin hair…. That’s when I have to wave my comb in front of her and say “This here is a comb. Not a Magic Wand”

4. Texture. When looking for hairstyles, keep in mind the texture has a lot to do with the outcome as well if you are wanting your hairstylist to duplicate from a photo. If you have frizzy, curly, long hair…. don’t show your stylist a photo of a style that is short, straight and sleek. If your hair is thin and straight as a board… don’t pick out a style that obviously requires a lot of hair to achieve the look.

5. Color. Hair with Highlights, looks completely different in an updo than hair with no highlights. That color dimension makes a huge difference.

My styles above in this photo, each one of the girls sat down in my chair and let me work my magic. No photos to show me. I asked them, up or down and where they part their bangs. From there I created them each their own unique style that worked with their hair and facial features.

So I would say give your Stylist some room to be creative, she may come up with something amazing that you never knew your hair would do 🙂

Now Booking For 2013 Weddings

Answers to Brides common Questions…

Is it common to remove the veil after the ceremony? I think I want to keep it on for the reception.

Don’t rush to remove your veil. A veil is that one element that transforms you from a woman in a white dress into a Bride. There is no written rule that the veil has to come off, in fact most Brides prefer the photographs of them wearing the veil when choosing pictures for print.

Is it true I dont wash my hair before the wedding?

Dirty hair is the secret to a long-wearing updo. This gives hair some grip so your style will stay in place all night!

I had my makeup done before but it seemes like a lot of makeup, I dont wear alot of makeup on a day to day basis.

Do a trial run for your Makeup, even if you don’t hire a pro. Makeup for flash photography is different than daily makeup application. It may look too dark at first glance, but after wearing it for a while, and having a friend take some photos with a flash you can see how your best features stand out in a photograph.

I cant decide if I want my hair to be in an elaborate Updo, or more natural.

Don’t stray too far from the real you. Experiment with different hairstyles, but then choose the one you are most comfortable with, the one that is most you. You don’t want to look back at photos of your special day and wonder “who is that?”

What about touching up my lip color after the Ceremony, before pictures with me and my husband or after eating?

Make sure your touch-up kit has all the right colors. I like for my Brides to bring their favorite Lip Liner and Color. You don’t want to realize later on during your wedding that you don’t have the right color for touch ups.

I have never had my eyebrows waxed, do you suggest this before my wedding?

Get your brows groomed by a professional. It makes such a difference in photos to have perfect brows!

Get Your Hair “Wedding Ready”

Wedding season is in full swing and deciding on the perfect hair ‘do is as important now as it was when you first got engaged.  Figuring out what to do with you hair can be harder than it seems.  below is a list to make deciding on, and achieving, your dream look one of the less stressful things that needs to be done for the big day.

  • Decide on your dress before you pick your hairstyle:While you might think you have the perfect style picked out for your hair, it might not match the dress that you end up choosing.  Having a basic idea of what you want is always a good idea, but do not set your mind to a specific ‘do until you have purchased.
  • Find pictures of something similar:Some people are not good with describing their hairstyle they had in mind. Find pictures of things you like so you can be sure the stylist knows what you envision.
  • Don’t assume the person who cuts your hair is the best choice:Just because they can cut your hair well does not mean they are great at up ‘dos. If you want an up ‘do or something you think your stylist might not have ever done before, do some research and find out who has a great reputation when it comes to wedding hairstyles.
  • Test and products at least two weeks in advance:If you are using new products before your wedding, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to test them out.  If you give yourself two weeks you’ll have a good idea of how your hair will respond to these products and you’ll also know if you need to change things up before the wedding.
  • Do not wash your hair the day of:We have all been told that day-old hair works better than clean. While you might be tempted to wash your hair because having perfectly clean hair makes you feel better, don’t! Stylists say day-old hair works better for a reason! Your hair’s natural oils will help the stylists shape the hair however you want it.
  • If you are using accessories, have extras:So many people bring the accessories that they need for their hair but they don’t think to bring extras. Your accessories could break or simply get lost in the travel to your stylist.  With that said, make sure you don’t pick a hair accessory that can’t be duplicated.
  • Have a backup plan:The weather can change in instant. Just like you need a backup plan for your venue, you also need a backup plan for your hair.
  • Do a run through:You might have an idea of what your hair is going to look like but you cannot be sure until you have done it. This is the most import day of your life and you need to know that your hair is going to be exactly like you imagined!
  • Changing hairstyles between the ceremony and reception:This might seem like a pain but more and more brides are doing this so they can be more relaxed during the reception. If you decide that going from a lose up ‘do to a flirty down ‘do is your style, during your run through have the stylists teach one of your bridesmaids how to assist you. You’ll be confident in the outcome and won’t have to pay extra to have the stylist stick around.
  • Don’t forget the veil: Numerous wedding photos have great ideas but they don’t always show the veil.  When looking at pictures, keep in mind that you will have a veil to add to the hairstyle. Some might cover up the top of certain styles so be on the lookout for the perfect style that will match well with your perfect veil.

How To Make Your Hair Grow Longer And Faster

Hair Growing Tips

Long beautiful hair is not something you can have overnight. It needs proper hair care and healthy habits, followed dedicatedly over a long period of time.

Here are some tips to grow your hair longer, healthier and more beautiful.

  • First, wash your hair regularly with a shampoo that is suitable for your type of hair. Shampooing your hair regularly will cleanse your hair and scalp and help maintain healthy hair. However, you have to keep in mind that shampooing your hair too frequently is not recommended as it can affect the natural moisture level of your hair. Two or three shampoo washes per week should be sufficient. Also, while washing your hair you should always use cold water. Using cold water helps to close the hair cuticles, thereby retaining moisture in the hair.

  • Another equally important practice is to use a good conditioner after every hair wash. Conditioner is especially important for long hair because the moisturizing oils produced in the scalp do not reach easily the ends of the hairs. Long hair, therefore, tends to become dry easily, and then becomes weak and brittle. The best way to apply conditioner is to take generous amount of conditioner and work it thoroughly you’re your hair right after a wash. This way, the moisture that is already absorbed can be trapped in the hair more effectively.
  •

  • Apply a mixture of coconut oil and almond on your hair and scalp at regular intervals. A massage of these oils will help strengthen the hair roots and aid growth of hair.
  •

  • Take care of your diet so that you have enough protein in your meals. Protein is essential for the health and growth of hair. Besides protein, your food should also contain essential oils, vitamins (B, C, and E), and minerals (zinc, sulfur, and magnesium).
  •

  • Trim your hair at regular intervals so that the split ends of the hairs are eliminated. Split ends, if not trimmed, can damage the whole hair.
  •

  • Take adequate steps to protect your hair from becoming weak and entangled. There are many ways you may be unknowingly harming your hairs. One of the common harmful methods is the way hair is dried. Do not rub a towel with force on your hair. Instead, you should gently blot the extra water from your hair with a dry towel, and then let your hair dry naturally. Doing so will ensure that the hair does not get entangled, knotted, or broken. Use of a blow dryer should also be avoided as far as possible because regular use of it can damage your hair. Another common way to harm your hair is by following an improper method of combing. Do not comb your hair when wet, and never force the comb through a knot – knots should be loosened with your fingers.
